Project KIJK (Powerful IJsseldykes Krimpenerwaard)

Protecting of the Krimpenerwaard against water out of the Hollandsche Ijssel.

Aram was responsible for the drafting of the planning and the risk register in the exploring fase of the project. Also, Aram developed the Planning and risk management process and implemented this. In addition, during the project, two internal staff are educated with courses at the Aram Academy. This in order to continue and ensure the planning and risk management process after the project was ended.

Exploratory phase
Through the Flood Protection Program, part of the national Delta Program, is being monitored how the Netherlands can be protected from flooding. The dykes must be able to turn high water to reduce the risk of nuisance flooding. Climate changes and the sea level rises. Simultaneously, the bottom declines. Our dykes are regularly reviewed to assess whether they are still strong enough. The Water Board should improve about ten kilometers dyke between Gouderak, Ouderkerk aan den IJssel en Krimpen aan den IJssel to minimize the risk of flooding so that more than 200,000 people in the area behind the dyke can continue to live, work and recreate in a safe manner.
