Day 1: Project Management and Control Processes

Project can be defined as “a temporary organization in which people work together on the realization of the unique product, service or result” (Hermarij, 2013). Managing and controlling this particular organization, project managers need to be equipped with special set of competences and tools to ensure the project completion on time, within budget and with the contracted quality. In this topic, you will learn the key concepts in setting up effective Project Management and Control environment.

Day 2: Project Planning

Project Planning serves as a foundation for several related functions, such as cost estimating, scheduling, project control, quality control, and safety management (Mubarak, 2010). Planning plays a crucial role in Project Management, and a delay in the delivery of the project can cost considerable amounts of money. In this case, Time Management and Planning are usually the most important factors in Project Management. In this topic, you will learn, for project planning, the key concepts and processes in developing a project planning and scheduling.

Day 3: Cost Control and Earned Value Analysis

There are many different scientific and professional approaches to manage measure and control the cost of projects. Furthermore, we can observe great improvements in the development of software for cost control. Despite these facts, overrunning the budget is the norm rather than the exception in Project Management fi eld. It has been argued that the main cause for this phenomenon is a lack of integrated and strategic approach in Cost Management. This topic provide you with integrative Cost Management framework with special focus on Earned Value Management.

Day 4: Project Risk Management

When we define risk as the cumulative effect of uncertain occurrences that may affect project objectives, then the role of Risk Management is to identify, assess and respond to those risks in order to secure the best interest of project stakeholders. In recent years, many studies show that Risk Management has the lowest maturity rate among different knowledge area related to Project Management. In this topic we are going to analyse both negative risks and positive risks and provide students with knowledge about Continuous Risk Management process (CRM).
